PLC Engineering within Syncore
The PLC Engineering department is responsible for the complete execution of multiple logistics projects both in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as in other European countries.
The department plays a key role in designing, programming, and commissioning PLC-based control systems for automated warehouse and intralogistics environments. Our projects integrate technologies such as AutoStore, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), pallet shuttle systems, conveyors, lifts, and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable material flow operations across customer distribution centers.As a (Senior) PLC Engineer, you are responsible for the design, programming, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of ighly automated intralogistics and warehouse automation systems including AutoStore, AMRs, conveyor technology, pallet shuttle solutions, and WCS integrations.
The role focuses on developing PLC software and integrating control systems to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe operation of manufacturing processes, machinery, and production facilities. The PLC Engineer works closely with electrical, mechanical, process, and project engineering teams. You work independently, but always keeping a close eye on the teams you are working with. You naturally think in solutions, dare to make decisions and take responsibility.
In this role, you will report to the Head of PLC Design. Your base location will be our office in Offenau, Germany.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Develop and program complex automation solutions using Siemens Step7 and TIA Portal;
- Create and further develop visualizations with WinCC Professional and WinCC Unified;
- Commission machines and systems at customer sites, including troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance;
- Cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless integration of warehouse automation solutions;
- Provide remote support and participate in the on-call support service;
- Coordinate and develop interfaces in collaboration with our suppliers;
- Prepare operating manuals and functional process descriptions;
- Carry out installation and service assignments at customer sites.
- In case of a Senior profile, you take technical ownership of complex automation projects and act as a key technical authority within the engineering team. You contribute to architecture decisions, define programming standards and control concepts, support less experienced colleagues, and play a role during commissioning activities.
Your profile
- Completed vocational training in Electrical Engineering or Automation Technology, further qualification as a State-Certified Technician (m/f/d), or a comparable qualification;
- Several years of experience in PLC programming;
- Experience with Siemens Step7 and TIA Portal; knowledge of S5 is an advantage;
- Confident user of Microsoft Office;
- Very good German and good English language skills;
- Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working;
- Willingness to travel and a valid Class B driver’s license.
For a senior profile, we additionally expect:
- Experience leading technical workstreams or acting as a technical authority within automation projects;
- Strong understanding of automation architecture, industrial communication protocols, and system integration concepts;
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the team.
